About our vision…

As an organizational unit, Business Services & Environmental Safety is a diverse cluster of substantially unrelated functions. Our common vision is to achieve “Measured Stakeholder Excellence. By this we mean CEO:

  • (C)ustomers… We will provide “legendary service” to our customers… service so good that our customers openly share positive stories about it.
  • (E)mployees… We will enable a “fulfilling work experience” among our employees. We will do this by building a productive workplace where people are well matched to the work they do.
  • (O)wners… We will become the undisputed “home of best practice” in our stewardship. We define this to mean performance that benchmarks within the top quartile in at least 75% of our targeted indicators.

A common method… The CEO approach applies at the work team level. Every team has stakeholders (groups of people with a vested interest in their efforts). These include customers (the recipients of what they do), employees (members of the work team including the area supervisor) and owners (the board of trustees and their agents in senior management). For each work team and each stakeholder, we have answered three fundamental questions 1) Who are they? 2) What do they value? & 3) How are we doing in delivering what they value? This is a simple and conceptually sound approach to feedback designed to align stakeholder interests by measuring what matters and using that feedback to empower continuous improvement.
